Invitation to Attend the 5th Annual Canadian Pediatric Bone Health Working Group Meeting!

This year, the 5th Annual Canadian Pediatric Bone Health Working Group Meeting will take place in Winnipeg on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The meeting venue is yet to be determined, but will be no more than a short walk from the Fort Garry Hotel. Breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be served, and there is no registration fee.

This year's Working Group meeting will include symposium-style talks on hot topics in pediatric bone health, clinical case and original research presentations by attendees, and a fun "bone quiz". Trainees, faculty and allied health professionals are all welcome to attend! The theme for this year’s event is “An Update on Emerging and Standard-of-Care Therapies for the Treatment of Pediatric Bone Diseases”.

We are pleased to announce that the 2020 Keynote Speaker is Dr. Alison Boyce, Pediatric Endocrinologist and Scientist, the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland (http://www.alisonboycemd.com/). The title of Dr. Boyce’s talk is “Targeting RANKL Inhibition in the Treatment of Pediatric Bone Diseases”. We will also hear updates on emerging therapy for XLH (burosumab, Dr. Jennifer Harrington, Toronto Hospital for Sick Children), and new knowledge about standard-of-care treatment of osteoporosis (bisphosphonates, Dr. Marie-Ève Robinson, CHEO).

The deadline for registration and for submission of 500-word interesting cases or original research abstracts for presentation at the meeting is Monday, November 18, 2019. Authors of abstracts that are selected for 10-minute oral presentations will be notified by January 1, 2020. More details on how to submit your abstracts to follow.

If you have any questions, please email KidsBonesCanada@cheo.on.ca.
